Chris Atlas: The Executive Who Went From Tommy Boy Intern to Fat Beats President

Chris Atlas has worked every side of the record.

Bronx-born in the '70s, with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's Mr. Ness in the family tree, Chris spent high school DJing as "Crackers" before an unpaid Tommy Boy internship turned into a career. College radio promotion. Rap promotion. A&R. His own imprint, Tommy Boy Black Label. Then Cornerstone, the marketing and promotion shop that tied music to Sprite, Reebok, Boost Mobile and Xbox, and whose mixtapes could break a record before streaming existed.

From there, nine years running marketing at Def Jam during the Jeezy, Ross, Rihanna and Kanye era. Then Warner, where he helped rebuild the label's urban footprint with Wale, Saweetie, NLE Choppa, Freddie Gibbs and Lil Pump. Today he is president of Fat Beats, the record store he used to walk into as a young promo guy, now a distribution and label services home for legends and new artists alike.

Chris and Jeffrey go back more than thirty years and it shows. This is Mixed and Mastered with Chris Atlas.
