20 DJ Coro King: I Had to Hide in the Freezer

Coro King learned on Virtual DJ, a laptop, and an eight-channel mixer. He used to hide the laptop when other DJs came to watch. It didn't matter. The club kept calling.

Born and raised in East New York, Brooklyn, Coro got shipped to his dad in Providence as a teenager and found the room he was looking for. A cousin, a club owner, and one packed Thursday turned a $50 promise into a $100 night and a weekly residency. He still kept two jobs. Then a third. The fellas want every young DJ to hear that part.

This one covers a lot of ground. Where the name comes from (his dad, a wig, and a Walgreens). The Heavy Hitters retreat in the DR where his luggage never showed up, so he cut up everyone's t-shirts with gift-shop scissors and still out-dressed the room.
